I really like Queens of the Stone Age, and they are definitely one of the better more accessible bands out right now.
I just figured out how to quote! ALL by myself!!!
If this album is nothing else compared to their older stuff, it is def more accessible.

I was talking mainly about this band as of now. Although I do like their older stuff much more.

Well I've heard Into The Hollow and I'm not impressed tbh. Hopefully the rest of this is somewhat better.

Excellent review. Rated R was the last album I stopped at with QOTSA because everything after that just sucked. Finally, its good to see that Josh Homme is back on track. Kyuss destroys this band though.

I'm gonna let this grow on me for a bit before I try and rate it (something that may have been wise for the other two reviewers). It has it's awesome songs (3s & 7s, Into the Hollow), and its sub-par songs songs (I'm Designer). I'm thinking this is gonna really grow on me though.

Ruthlessgrunge,
Kyuss was Josh Hommes first band. They are alot heavier and not as quicky as this band. Good music to get really high too.

I personally like the album, but it is a bit of a grower. I had to give it 3-4 solid listens before it got through to me.
Reminds me of a live show in some shitty little hollywood dive bar.

Good review... and I slightly disagree with Wizard in that I love Lullabies to Paralyze(their best album IMO), but to anyone that has not heard, Kyuss does indeed destory this band.

Lullabies as their best album? Really?

Yep, I'm one of the few people that prefers Lullabies to Paraylze to their other albums. Rated R and Self-Titled are close though. Every song on Lullabies is interesting to me and fits perfectly with the rest of the album. Just thinking about songs like Burn the Witch, Little Sister and Someone's in the Wolf is making me salivate at the chance to hear it again soon. Not to mention that the songs Skin on Skin, Broken Box and "You Got a Killer Scene There, Man..." just might be the coolest and most seductive string of three songs on any album I've ever heard.

I actually think Songs is their best. I do like Lullabies, though; Wolf is brilliant.
|
| |
mmmhmm, Songs is my favourite. Lullabies was more friendly sounding, but it still had some great tracks.
Era was quite a disappointment, although i love Turnin on the Screw.

Songs for the deaf was good but a little too repetitive for me at parts. Lullabies is a pretty good album. Era Vulgaris is probably my least favorite but there are still some gems on there (into the hollow, suture up your future, 3's and 7's)
My favorite is definately Rated R. Great songs throughout and contains my favorite song ever in In The Fade. Have yet to listen to their s/t.
