The first track off this was fairly enjoyable, but after that it really didn't offer anything. I'll give it another couple spins, but this is shaping up to be a 2 - 2.5

I feel really disappointed with album after such a great albums as 'Hours'. 'Hours' was the first album of FFAF's I listened to, and I was really excited when this one was coming out. But I have to say I was let down.

I do say I regret buying it...

I love the new direction these guys are going in. Every album that FFAF puts out sounds different to the previous one. So i have relished every Funeral album as being steps into new territories. And from what i have heard of the new songs on their myspace, its going to be different next time. Keep rockin'.

Ok fuck you people I really don't see the issue with this record. They dropped the screaming which I really dig (I fucking hate screamed vocals in rock music. Either properly grunt them or sing, don't scream half-assed goddamnit). The songs are just more interesting.

The closing song sucks though.

hmmm...i'm interested by how much most ppl hate this album. (review was well written - good job) I believe this album is really underrated though. and don't jump to conclusions that i'm a new fan. i've been enjoying these guys since seven ways/casually dressed...and i've always been able to enjoy their music. most dislike this album because its softer and more polished than their old albums correct? well i must say that all of my displeasure with this album rests on the first song because its written to be overly catchy and to appeal to the wrong audiences. what i see in the rest of this album are some interesting guitar riffs, some improved bass work, and the intention to take the listener on more of a journey than anything else. sure this album may have a few holes in it but i think its kinda cool how they start off softer and slowly shift into the harder stuff as the album progresses. they lighten up for a bit then bring back the intensity. i really feel like this album had the most unity of all their albums...i'm definately not saying that i think this is their best album musically or technically speaking...but i think it deserves a few more listens to fully appreciate it.

When I first heard this album, and for first few years following its release, I absolutely hated this album for everything it wasn't. Over time however I learned to see that although it wasn't the appropriate follow up to hours, nor was it "classic" FFAF, it was in fact an excellent concept album. Unfortunately, Funeral lost a lot of their angsty teenaged fans (including me at first) as this album was much more refined and mature than their past work. Tales still is my 3rd favorite Funeral album (above only the wretched Memory and Humanity), but it defiantly above a poor rating. The fact is simply that if Tales had been released by a band from the Alt/rock genre, it would have been much more revered.

Pos to the review man, although I don't think this album was quite a 4,

I admit, this is my least favourite Funeral for a Friend album, but that doesn't mean I hate it or think it's bad.

If I'm honest, I think that, for what it is, it's a pretty good album on it's own merits. It's a lot different to their other material, and some of the songs are a bit dull, but other then that, it's a pretty good album.
