I think they mix it up enough to not be considered repetitive.

But I really wouldn't know about the keyboard thing...
Nope, thats geetaur, no keys. I didn't really hear any blastbeats on this record. Might just be me.

^ did you see the prodominant genre on my album ratings? My favorite bands are Nile, Cannibal Corpse, and Suffocation. I think i know what Blast Beats are =]

Lamb of God doesn't really use any blast beats. More like thrash beats and pseudo-blast beats with skipping double bass rhythms.

The drums he uses are the same, but the rhythms he sets them to are different. Blast beats are supposed to be straight 8th or 16th notes on all drums played at high speeds, though not in sync with each other. Chris offsets the rhythms and combines 8th and 16th notes with quarter notes and various dotted note forms while playing much slower. The beats during the NYGSTDF verses are thrash beats. If you want some serious blast beats, check out anything Derek Roddy has played on.

No, he hits the snare full on. Have you ever seen any of his videos?

And either way, gravity blasts are just a shortcut for speeding up your blast beats.

As is the outro. It just gets heavier and heavier as the song keeps going, and the last 90 seconds or so is metal perfection. Headbanging at its best.

Well, either way, what I was saying ^^^up there earlier was that I thought hottiebassplayer was referring to Chris doing gravity blasts due to the bands she mentioned

?

I like it, but the catchy parts of it border on stupid gang chanting hardcore.

Nah, I think a 3.5 is where it should be. It's got some insanely strong tracks (Laid to Rest, Hourglass, Blood of the Scribe, Remorse Is For The Dead), but it's got some lame songs as well to bring it down (The Faded Line, One Gun, What I've Become). The rest are pretty good which bring it above an average rating, while not making it an excellent album.

You should rate this higher than a 3, SF. It is at least 4.25, so you should round up from there.

Have you not noticed the number at the top of all my posts? My review is out of date and I've been meaning to rewrite for the longest time, but I've rated it a four for many months now. I'd rate it higher but it has some songs like Omerta, easily one of the worst Lamb of God songs ever.

Good review and I respect your opinion, but I disagree. I don't think it was that repetitive, admittedly more than As The Palaces Burn, but still not so much that it is detrimental imo. One of my favorite LoG tracks is Ashes Of The Wake though, and that is also the track that got me into metal.
