I like this album a lot, I like the fact that one, Randy changed his singing style form their before ablum Amercian Gospel, I hated his singing, but I like the fact that they played slower, and on this album, they are fast tempoed and louder, which I like so in all I like the sound of the cd. As for the reivew, it was ok

Fire of my soul - I totally agree. NAG was good in it's way because it kind of let them release all that really thrashy angry music...they progressed well with ATPB. That is a classic album. I can just put LoG on and just go through their lyrics and admire the instrumentation - ShadowsFallen, I am surprised you dig this dude :p
Great review - I might write one just to give my opinion...

^^^yeah, i've kinda changed my opinion after listening to all the lamb of god albums like 100 times in a row (i was on vacation...lotta driving) and I don't like NAG much anymore, I like ATPB and AoTW. ATPB would have to be my favorite I think.

This album is actually incredible. Seriously innovative and original American Metal and the lyrics and vocals are in a class of their own. NAG is much more generic and simplistic in terms of riffs and songwriting - it is still a very good album. ATPB owns this album...only marginally though. The opening three tracks on this are insane.

Extremely good band! I saw them live last year at the Sounds of the Underground tour, (at the show that they made a DVD out off) and they were unbelievably good. This is a type of metal not seen since the days of Pantera. Everything about this album is great, and nothing is not heavy. Everything about this album seems to have it's own groove. If you're just getting into metal, I highly recomend this CD!!!

I personally love this band and this album. Lamb of God have actually sparked my interest in Metal and guitar again. Mark and Willie’s style of playing really appeals to me, they may not be the most technical players out there but as far as originality goes I rate them. As for every song sounding the same or riding the drop D, “chugga chugga” as the reviewer put it lol. I would have to disagree, just listen to Blood of the Scribe or Hour Glass, it’s a riff fest in those songs. Chris Adler’s drumming is amazing, what that guy can do with 2 kick drums is just crazy and Randy has one of the strongest voices I have heard in a long time. For me it has taken quite a few listens of this album to hear everything in it, its far from boring. That’s my opinion anyway, I’m a big fan of this group and can’t wait for Sacrament, Bring it on!!

None of these songs sound.. "the same". Technically all songs on an album for any band sound similar, but that's just defining the style. This album is a mother fuckin riff fest like Monaro said. I love all the songs, and the only one I slightly consider a fill track is "Break You". A good track nonetheless, but not nearly as good as the rest. "Blood of the Scribe" and "Ashes of the Wake" are their career best songs, better than any other songs on any other album IMO.

Well..I thought it was a pretty good CD overall. But the review is true, it does get pretty repetitive after a while.
But I'd give it a 4/5.

This is the first album I've gotten of them (the I got As the Palaces Burn) and I think this is a band the gets better with time. I haven't listened to too much of Sacrament, but this is definitely a great band.
I really like some of the lyrics on the album. I'm guilty of cranking the breakdown of Laid to Rest and screaming, " SEE WHO GIVES A F*CK!!"

"The blast beats and fast lead riffs sound quite cool."
Those weren't blast beats. Ever heard of Slayer? Dave plays faster than that and it's still not a blast beat.
"Blythe can do black metal shrieks pretty well, but I won't even go there."
Why not?
"In the beginning there is some talking in the background about...politics? What the hell were they thinking?"
You have a problem with a somewhat popular metal band making a point to the public on what's going on in Iraq?
"The second was nothing special, just slow and atmospheric."
You've obviously proved a point that you play guitar in the review. You also seemed to show your perspective of "hey, why don't we just wank away really fast" is better than "why don't make something that actually evokes some type of emotion, you know, something atmospheric." It doesn't have to be difficult to sound good.
Because the riffs are good, doesn't mean the music is good. You did make a point of that, but in other places you worked against it. Despite what I've just been an arse about, it's not a bad review; I just disagree a bit.

This review is nearly two years old so don't place much weight on what I said there. It was one of my first reviews and my opinion on the music is completely different now.

To be honest I like the fact that the songs are somewhat repetative, they really get the main riffs across to the listener.
