i think that review was pretty harsh. i think the album is good. The songs all create an unusual atmosphere and i dont think circa need to be compared to the mars volta. my only complaint is that some of the guitar work on this album lacks presence and memorabilty. This album is EASILY better than saosin's attempt, which in my opinion was as unadventurous as a ham sandwich.

Yeah, I'd say Juturna was and is much better than the Saosin album. Some songs on Juturna are kind of boring, but I think the whole Saosin album was boring. I personally like it as I can't seem to find anything else similar to it (I don't really see the connection between this and Deloused), but the review did point me towards El Cielo, which I'll be checking out later tonight.

The verdict? If your looking for the more “out there” album, Juturna is the choice. If your looking for a far superior album, even if it’s a bit bland, take Saosin.
FFS.... *you're
....should probably also replace 'superior' with 'shite'This Message Edited On 10.23.08

I somewhat agree with the post-hardcore label but still the Saosin album is not far off from being shitty radio rock like Simple Plan.

efffffffff i cant see how anyone can justify comparing this to the saosin album, it literally is the one song played 12 times over. i saw them live at soundwave, and was getting confused over which song i was listening to:
A) because all the songs sound the same
B) because one of the guitarists kept stuffing up and playing riffs from other songs.

I'd say this is rock in the vein of Anberlin. I haven't heard this though, only On Letting Go

i think anberlin are a great example of a modern rock band, or at least what one should sound like, personally rock is about as useless a label as alternative, or even emo or indie the latter 2, more so because of the general publics misconceptions/stupidity

labels aren't useless imo

i think people are way too hard on circa. this album is sick, and its awesome considering it is their very first release. i think people expect anthony to come up with a amazingly flawless record just because of who he is and how he sings. i think you should definately give this record another shot

na, people expect him to try to switch things up on occasion...having a great voice does not mean you can coast, which he often does...i like this though (more than the follow-up/sequel/repeat)This Message Edited On 12.21.08
