Why not pleb. This is perhaps one of the classics of New American Wave of Heavy Metal. Everything
that modern metal should be is here -brutality, dynamics, pure, unadultered riffage, face-melting
solos, killer harmonies and ever changing structures. From the moment "Clenching the Fists..."'s
build up reaches its peak and the thrash begins, the hairs on your neck will stand. This is made to
be heard live; to be screamed and to be thrown around to - and you can, surprisingly, feel that
energy on record too. "Clenching..." and closing track "A Farewell to Arms" are both epics that
neither bore nor wander aimlessly - they continue to evolve and drag you further into Robb Flynn's
twisted metal vision. "Halo" may just be the best song ever written, "Slanderous" teaches the 'Core
masses how to do a simple breakdown without sounding contrived or shitty, "Now I Lay Thee Down"
shows Machine Head excercising excellent dynamic diversity, and the double-whammy of "Beautiful
Mourning" and "Aesthetics of Hate" will just knock your bloody block off. Even the less immediate
"Wolves", after a few listens, will suck you in and enthrall you in perfect, thrashing bliss. Bad
tracks simply do not exist on this album - an unstoppable force from one of the best bands in modern
metal. SO 5 THIS OR DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
