@Myth: a lot of their albums are like that, but I'd say if anything about Deliverance is simpler it's the guitarwork, while the drumming and vocals is some of their best.
And at least I can understand why people would prefer this over BWP unlike their first couple. But BWP is still best ;)

When you bring it down to what's the best, BWP, SL, MAYH or GR, you simply can say for sure. Is it the atmosphere? DUDE! Talk about atmosphere on any of 'em. Is it the musicianship? Lyrics, vocals, consistency? I'd say BWP, because then was when they perfected their style and after that comes SL, but none can be 100% sure of the answer.

I'm 100% sure which one I like best cos it's not even close for me.

Myth those are definitely their top four and all 5 material, though BWP will always be my favorite because of the nostalgia,
the vocals, and most of all because it's their most depressing, emotive, and powerful sounding. I honestly don't
understand how people could say it drags, even in the middle. Sure it's less riff based than SL, but it's so mature and
monolithic in almost every way. Shadows' review pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

I'm with JT. I'm pretty certain which ones I like the best out of those 4

Yeah, 'we enter winter once again' is a line that pretty much hits you on the wall for all difficulties to come, like, fuck, winter will always come, no matter what. Its cover explains perfectly the emotions it conveys. I wouldn't say MAYH is a 5 material. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I'd rather jam any of the others than that. I prefer individual songs out of it.

JT everyone knows you have the most backwards opinions of Opeth of anyone on the site and your ratings wipe can't do
anything to hide it

Damn dude, MAYH works better as a whole than any of their other albums.

@Talons: Haha don't worry, I'll rate their discog again soon enough. I was actually mainly laughing at Opeth having more than one 5-worthy album.

This.
Why the ratings wipe Jamie?

My ratings were a complete mess. I'd started to realise that I no longer felt the same way about a lot of the stuff I had rated and that I had albums rated highly that I never listen to anymore. Decided to transfer most of them over to Rateyourmusic (whilst changing a lot of them) with the aim of rating stuff on here again (very gradually) but much more accurately.

I have this too (to some extent), but I simply can't be bothered rating everything again. Makes sense though.

Yeah I know what you mean but I'm not going to go on a massive rating spree or anything, just rate some stuff when I feel like it.
