This is still my favorite, and one of my favorite albums in general.
Edit: wait no I thought this was their debut

Understandable

I got it wrong, I thought this was the thread for their debut lmao
I can totally see this being someone's favorite though. I always thought that their 2nd and 3rd albums were basically their first one taken to each extremes, this is the poppy one and wl/wh is the noisy one. They're all about equally good but I still give Nico the edge because tracks like Heroin kill me

Heroin is possibly one of the greatest songs ever written. That song alone makes the album a minimum 4.5

Needs a bump
I bumped WL/WH down to a 4.5 recently so this and that are on the same level for me now. Weird feeling

I like The Murder Mystery.

Jesus -> Beginning to See the Light -> I'm Set Free is one of my favorite three-song progression ever. They feel so thematically tight.

Moe Tucker's heavy Long Island accent on After Hours is the best

Not as good at their debut or White Light, and it's sad to know that John Cale leaving meant a lot of the experimentalism left too, but the catchy songwriting and great lyrics are still there 100%
Light 4/5, maybe a 3.8/5 if I had staff rating privileges

I might like this as just much as I like The Velvet Underground & Nico, actually

This album has a lot of commercial songs that should've been hits
