jutes, saxons, angles invading britain, atilla the hun play-off with roman politics & hunnic influence on the continent and warfare, ostrogoths & visigoths, germanic kings of italy and the story of odovacar and theodoric, emergence of the franks, fall of syagrius' gaul, vandals in northern africa, and ofc the burgundians moving down to burgundy, and the whole story from which wagner's ring cycle gets its inspiration (nebelungenlied), after all that, it's kind of the last century of european antiquity and legend, marking the end of older pagan traditions and all that fantastical mystery, and a fucking cool century with so much cool shit going on gets me all excited every time i think about it
