I agree with the summary.

A Skylit Drive is dead to me. Jag (their current lead vocalist) has one of the most annoying voices I have ever heard, and this is coming from someone who willingly listens to Bone Palace Ballet on a weekly to bi-weekly basis.
Their EP was fantastic, though, which definitely played a part in my expectations of what Wires... would be like. It's really too bad. The same fate graced Emarosa as well - great EP, hideous full length.

Emarosa's EP was hideous and generic and their full length was marginally enjoyable though

^ If you prefer inaudible, baby-esque singing to indentured, emotional screaming.
|
| |
It's funny you should say inaudible when Johnny Craig's voice is quite loud and the opposite of baby-esque...
And do you know what indentured means?

It's inaudible in that half the time it makes no sense and when it does make sense, it sucks. The full length has no where near the energy of their EP.
And yes, you jerk, I know what indentured means. I meant in the context of the band being more owing or under the service of their fans with the screams.
|
| |
I'm not being a jerk that's just a very awkward way of using indentured (they owe it to their fans to scream or something?)...basically what you seem to be saying is inaudible and nonsensical are the same things which I'm not really getting, and if you mean the lyrics don't make much sense or something, the lyrical content on both their EP and full length are fairly similar...This Message Edited On 12.20.08

One of the better post hardcore albums.
Drown the City ftw.

I quite agree with you on this one. I think the album is pretty good. Yet i am a fool for post-hardcore. By far one of my favorite genres. I am a sucker for screaming/clean vocals, and A Skylit Drive mix these two elements perfectly on this EP.

this bands no better than TDWP
the only decent song they ever wrote was according to columbus, then they slowed it down on the ep and drained all the energy the original had.

Is it just me, or does their vocalist sound and cat like a girl? I'm not bashing. Just checkout the Drown This City music video. I must admit, the screaming is decent at times, just, when I hear so much high-pitched screams I get a craving for some Christian Alvestam Death Growls for some reason?! I'm no, I'm not comparing them to eachother. Chris is a legend, this guy is confused.
Nice review. I don't agree with the rating, but still nice review.
If you want to hear proper Post-Hardcore with a little Metalcore, listen to Escape The Fates first releases. They actually throw in some Grind-esque vocals in the one track - The Guillotine! Heavy.

I thought it was actually a great first album. And I definitely like Jordan Blake more than Jag. Once Jordan left and Jag stepped up to the plate, the band took a big turn in a another direction. (But it wasn't entirely a bad direction - just different) I just prefer A Skylit Drive with Jordan B.

Introduced me somewhat to "hardcore" music. A great album in general. Vocals were the best part :p

I have to disagree with everyone who calls this band mediocre. I love their layered vocals, and Jag is great at what he does. The guitar riffs are melodic, and they all have a broad range of styles. My favorite song by them would probably be Drown The City. If you want to get a feel for this band I suggest listening to Drown The City, or Wires..And The Concept of Breathing.

I would have to disagree. I listened to Wires... and I thought one song was catchy but I thought the rest were garbage. I think the band could be a lot better if they focused more on instrumentation. to me there music seems kinda lackluster in the fact that the guitarists don't stand out at all. Pretty much the whole show revolves around the singer and in my opinion it should be the other way around if u wanna make a solid album

yeha man, too bad they got bad of jordan. they came to my small town of 800 when they were pretty much unknown, and they were awesome. they toured with a heartwell ending and the sharktopus. the sharktopus kicked ass with a skylit drive, but a heartwell ending didn't do very well, as they didn't have a drummer. but the overall show was great.

WhiteTieBlackJacket- Agree completely with the whole ASD=Emarosa's fate.
switching the singers of these bands was a terrible thing to have happen. ASD was much better with the original singer.
Personally, absolutely love this album.

Too bad they changed their sound. I gave them a four.

The clean vocals are okay, but the screaming is awful.
