The tone really shines on Time Long Past.

I remember going to my cousin's house when I was little. He is 5 years older than me so he and his friends were probably 15 at the time, they all had long hair and wore the denim jackets. This album was an example of what was playing in his room.

There I was lurking in the hallway towards his room.

Dinally on this (again). Holy smokes do I hate Arch’s vocals, is this worse than Watchtower vocal-wise? Possibly. Cannot wait for the Alder era! The mix and general peoduction is awful too. Does it get better?

Man this rules! I was not able to appreciate just how proggy this is when I first heard it months ago. The progress these guys made musically from Brocken to here is just unfair.

Wish I could give this a 4.5. Maybe on some more listens I will mange. Is do good musically for the time especially! Amazing weird time and technical riffs and fantastic structures. Productions, mix and vocals are so so bad though.

^Yeah can't really stand the vocals here (and the past two). Maybe someday I'll come back to these once I listen to the Adler albums enough.

I have a hard time with the vocals too. It just feels like this is what would happen if they gave a guy lyrics and a tempo and key and just recorded him singing without ever hearing the track. Not a single memorable vocal line for me. I've only listened twice now, tbf.

yeah, the weird phrasing of the vocals has always been charmingly wonk. one of my first prog metal albums. i remember burning a copy of it.

One thing I don’t really get about this album though is when people say it’s a huge improvement over The Spectre Within. I love both albums and this one just continues the trend that one started, I wouldn’t say this is leaps and bounds better really at all
