Review Summary: The Wretched Spawn is a ground breaking album for Cannibal Corpse. This is an amazingly brutal CD for death metal lovers. at first I had an extremely hard time with Cannibal Corpse, I could not stand Georges vocals what so ever but then when they release

Ok to tell you the truth I also was at one time amused with the names of cannibal corpse songs and then was like well *** the ones with gross names happen to be the sweetest ones. Ok any ways lets start with severed head stoning. The first track of the wretched spawn and it just comes right with a simple but cool riff and George comes out with fast lyrics just like cannibal corpse. Good song but it took a little while to start liking it and the same goes to psychotic precision good song but had to learn to like it its my second to least favorite song on the album so I really don’t have too much to say about it.

Well decency defied is the best song on this album that’s what I have to start off about saying about it. It is the single from the album and is for a reason. No cannibal corpse song is radio playable but still this was the closest to it. I like how the song itself is a slower paced song vocal wise but then it picks up later in the song. This song is just an all around good song I like the lyrics about a guy who hunts people down and takes their tattoos to make a suite out of them that’s just priceless. You can also watch the video for it www.music.yahoo.com. Just search cannibal corpse duh.

Frantic disembowelment. The first time I heard any of this song was on Google video and it was them doing it instrumentally from the making of the wretched spawn and I fell in love. I have never seen any thing like that and I was amazed I suggest watching that if you already haven’t seen it. Its such a brutal song and I just love how it the music in the song progresses to get harder than it already was.

The wretched spawn was another track that I had to earn to like but I am so glad I did. When I still had a myspace I had cannibal as my friends and there was a bulletin about one of there shows so I read it and this guy said that his favorite song off of the set was the wretched spawn so I decided to re listen and I was amazed. This song is so just in your face with killer lyrics like “.. it.. Was.. made.. To.. KILL!..” is a line that always stands out to me. Speaking of that the part that stands out the most to me is the awesome break when the guitars go thrash and them so lyrics and then that amazing solo gets me every time. Great song its one that I highly suggest listening to off of this album.

The next track I still to this day am not very fond of as a listener. I’m sure that there is someone out there who will disagree but on a personal level I just don’t like it. So I guess that I will move on to another favorite track “festering in the crypt”. this song surprised me at first because it is very slow the entire song unlike cannibal for the most part but it was still such a good song. And no matter what in that song if you cant understand George in this song you can so it makes things easier for you untalented listeners. The part that stands out the most to me would have to be the very last line of the track FEST..ER..ING..IN…THE…CRYPT! In a very high itched voice that unless you’ve seen cannibal live you probable have never heard It.

I realize now the significance of having a really slow song right before nothing left to mutilate which isn’t a very fast vocal song but a very fast musical song this song is kind of creepy if you listen to the lyrics but nonetheless a great song another favorite. I really have to stop saying that because there Is a lot of favorites off of this album.

Once again this next song was not a favorite nor do I like it even now after owning this album for a long time. Its called blunt force castration. Maybe I never liked it cause the title always stuck with me you know realizing what that would be like and not wanting to have it so yea.

The next song on the other hand is just amazing. Its called rotted body landslide. This song just comes right out with sweet guitars and drums into that and then a kind of melodic yet still heavy riff then George coming in brutally ripping your face off with his lyrics just pounding them into you and I was just like o yea when I heard this song. The chorus breaks down a little bit slows up and so do the vocals and it is so heavy it stands out so much when you hear it if you like cannibal but don’t like this song there is something wrong with you. Sorry had to say that. I definitely recommend this track.

Slain is a track off of the album that I listen to once and was unsure about it but went back and now I love it. This is a song that George really almost levels out low with high screams he uses a fair amount of high screams which made this song stand out to me. I like the lyrics…a lot. Another recommended track.

Bent backwards and broken is a track that I sort of like but is one of those songs where George sings extremely fast and you can really understand him and I don’t like that at all but musically this song is so sweet. Its got four different guitar tracks and pat said that this song was the hardest song for him to do.
Also there is a sweet solo in it.

Is a They deserve to die was a good closer track I like it. Its not a favorite but it is a good song. Guitars are cool I like when the use pinch harmonics makes things stand out. This song is a fast vocal song but breaks down a lot for him to scream THEY DESERVE TO DIE in his high pitch scream and its just sweet. Sometimes you can zone out listening and then a high pitch they deserve to die come out and gets you its sweet. There is an amazing bass solo short yet amazing in the track better than hammer smashed face solo I might add. Its fast. I recommend this track.

Cannibal corpses The Wretched Spawn is a good CD by me there is five out of 5 tracks out of thirteen that I don’t recommend. The tacks I do though are:
3. Decency Defied
4. Frantic Disembowelment
5. The Wretched Spawn
7. Festering In The Crypt
8. Nothing Left To Mutilate
10. Rotted Body Landslide
11. Slain
13. They Deserve to Die.

Thanks for reading please comment if you liked it and or thought that it was an ok review I’m still new at this so give me a break its only number 2.
Thanks.

An intense and technical assault on the senses that will leave you blinded by its non-stop approach ...

Ok review. Keep at it. Not a fan of this band at all. The vocals really ruin they're music for me. I'm also not a fan of heavy stuff.

This album is sweet. The guitar tone on Severed Head Stoning is so heavy I can't help but love it. Also, try checking out a live rehearsal video of Frantic Disembowelment. Easily the most technical song I've ever seen.

Great review to boot. Try catching Cannibal Corpse live sometime - they're incredibly strong.

Do it, but if you havn't checked any of their older stuff, check that out first. TWS is a very solid release, Kill is a little bit better though.

Cannibal Corpse is utterly one of the worst pathetic excuses for music i have ever heard in my life. No they are not good no they are not technical and its sad to see a band that sounds this terrible has so much fame.
