I just saw them live and they were amazing. They played about half of their setlist from light grenades too. I agree with most of you when I say that Light Grenades isn't as good as some of their previous releases, but hearing most of it live made me rethink my opinion. It's not bad.

I like this album, it just lack the same Incubus feel that the previous albums had

This album isnt bad for what it is i guess, i guess i just wish it wasnt incubus that made it lol.

Incubus better get back to their roots soon or im gonna be upset. I dont understand the 180...just to sound more mainstream?

My favs by incubus go:

SCIENCE

Make Yourself

Fungus Amungus

Morning View

Light Grenades

Crow LFM

Hopefully they will reel themselves back in. Too bad the only people left from the original band is brandon boyd and the guitarist i think.

...and the drummer Jose Pasillas.

Incubus have certainly done better but it's not a shitty record.

I would get this album if you like Incubus, and if you haven't really heard them before it has a little bit of everything from slow songs to more rocking out songs. Another song thats real good that wasn't mentioned on this review is Rogues.

i listened to this again and upped it from 2.5 to 3.5. tempted to even give it a 4

it's a pretty solid album songwise; it's only hindered by [the similarly-named] diamonds and coal & oil and water. and dig is liek srsly the best bro song evar.

Incubus was the band that introduced me to music. Before them I would download random MP3s every now and again or just listen mindlessly to the radio. With Crow Left of the Murder, Morning View and Make Yourself I was awed. Then I went back to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and loved them even more. It wasn't long ago I would cite incubus among my top 5 favorite bands.

Then came Light Grenades.

What happened? Musically it's sufficient to work as a marketable album, but from Incubus? There's so much touchy feely stuff packed in here, so many (frankly) lame lyrics. Diamonds start as coal, oil and water... what? I'd expect to hear that kind of content from super pop bands on the radio, but not from these guys. They could have presented the same messages in a more creative, experimental and, yes, emotionally stimulating way. The way the album is now I really don't give two shits about Bella.

This is the clearest example I can draw of a band "selling out". And sell out they have. I hope they enjoy their new target audience. You better believe I won't be among them.

When I think of "Anna Molly" I think of a flawless song. Everyone is spot on beat, the drumming is incredible, vocals blow me away, guitar melts my face. Incredible, it's the perfect song.

And anyone ever notice that Anna Molly is like anomaly?

Record isn't as good as earlier Incubus, but I just don't get the hate.

Quicksand was my favorite, it was bone chilling the first time I heard it, and Dig of course was cool.

Rouges was decent but the rest was kind of meh. Still enjoyable though.

Dig, love hurts, Diamonds and coal, and Oil and water are just so painful to listen to after what this band has done up til now

There are some gems on this cd, but if they are actually on a hiatus I would rather that than another album headed this direction

If it weren't for the cheesy lyrics it would be a great song. I still enjoy it from time to time though.
