Plus, I think the fact that they were pretty much inactive from 2019 onward says a lot about how seriously they were taking the situation behind the scenes

As I said even before their statement nobody had spoken to Scott for years, and they live opposite ends of the country. They literally practiced writing together at once ONE time in like 8 years or something when they were in a cabin over NY. They never saw each other outside of tours and practice for tours. No matter when one of these things come to light it's not enough for people they want more heads to roll so make shit up 'well he's to blame...she's to blame' without knowing any of the full details etc etc they're fucking parasites. Bloodworms.

"Hard nope, this is about Kelly, not Neurot Records or Neurosis."
be that as it may, the man has admitted to also abuse his spouse via economical coercion, unless it can be confirmed that he wont profit from any of the material he shares credits for, i would not feel comfortable paying a dime to them.

"Of course there are a bunch of people coming out of the woodwork on Facebook saying stuff like "Neurosis clearly knew what Scott was doing for years! How would they not?" But honestly, it legitimately seems like nobody knew (at least until the band cut ties with him in 2019). From what I understand, Scott was really good at putting up a facade, even in front of the people closest to him"
To me, it also sounded more like emotional and mental abuse, rather than anything physical, which is a lot harder to spot. So to say how the band couldn't know, well, it's pretty obvious how they wouldn't realize this was going on.

This is one of the few Neurosis albums I never really ever connected with. Giving it a listen now and already don't understand why I put it on the backburner

Band were still at the top of their game for performances on this, but their sound lost a crucial part of its spark or fire after ASTNS and this v much feels like coasting on good ol tricks on a song level

Album Rating: 3.0
for whatever reason this remains my second most played Neurosis
EDIT: 3.0 seems a bit harsh will need to revisit, my memories were of an album with three incredible tracks and then mostly 'going through the motions - in the typical Neurosis extended fashion'

That's fair (if a little harsh) - very greatest hits overtones here
