The new album would have been great with any sort of normal production job. The songwriting is there and it doesn't have unbearably cringe lyrics like Gold does, but man it just sounds so sterile.

I find the production to be weird on all their releases I've just gotten used to it, my main problem with the new album is they're trying to cater to fans of lighter and heavier sides of the band all at once, leads to somewhat unfocused songwriting

Gold was so bad I lost faith in the band but the new one is pretty damn cool, despite its quirks. Much better than I expected

Anyone else think the production on this new one has a lot of fuzzy/loudness issues? It's so close to sounding bad, but it doesn't quite, like it works for me.
But yeah new album wayyyyy better than the last couple agreed. I Wish I Wasn't is a new favorite of mine. His voice sounds incredible on the little chorus we get twice. I hope they make more songs in that vein.

So what you're saying is I should listen eh? ;^)

This album and Covenant did lots for me when they released but I started to tire on the sound, Gold went too far in the other direction, but this is like a perfect merger of their technical side and their poppy side. I'm surprised I like it as much as I do.

NGL the I Wish I Wasn't chorus makes me think of Breaking Benjamin, but only in the best way possible

not really a fan of the new album lol. some cool guitar work and when it locks in and goes hard its pretty cool but whenever they try and go absurdly chuggy on the clean tone it sounds hilariously bad

How the fuck did they approve the guitar sound in the verses in "Avatar", what the hell is that tone doing on the low notes. The huge mids on the bass is a cool idea but wow it's so overdone. This guy is mixing on the most enormously mid scooped system ever lol

Run away as fast as you can any time you see a 4.5 from Tundra. All likelihood is whatever that album is will be straight doo doo.

@Beardog I get it LOL, the prod on this is fucking wacky, took me a while to get used it, now I enjoy the uniqueness of it..

I enjoy what they are trying to do with it for sure, execution is just wildly off in places. Also, when the guitars play chords they are so enormously piercing and noisy. Sounds fucking awful, I don't get why djent bands use sounds like that.
If this band fixes their production most of their records just go up by a half or full 1 point for me haha

Never really got the hate for the prod on this. It's a heavy mix but it works well imo. The new one is unforgivable though.
