I actually like this band and was hoping for a quality fun album. This is just void of substance and sounds so uninspired. The albums production is some of the worst I've heard in the genre in a long time, and for a band this formulaic and simple, the production value is key. Good bands come out with shit albums all the time, don't take it personally when people call them out.

I'm not hearing the issue you guys are having with the production, in fact, it's fantastic in some places.

i find all ADTR records have pretty flat production.

I normally listen to them in the car (where they normally sound pretty effective tbh) so I didnt notice how flat and lifeless they all are until I listened to some of them with headphones for the first time in forever yesterday

yeah its not at all bad on speakers, but headphones highlight the issues

Yeah they actually sound really good on speakers Id say. They always sound huge and dense. You're spot on though, they sound lame on headphones. I should buy this album on physical format and see if I dig it more

"Had to give this a 5 to make up for all you taste-less morons voting 2 for this absolute masterpiece. Go listen to Slayer if you want heavier and go listen to britney spears if its too heavy. This is literally the bands greatest sound to date, half of you can't relate because of your privileged lives and the idea that music should be catered for YOU. Music is art, if you want "something catchy while I work" then go and make your own music. This is an experience, and I've been listening to this band since their ep - this is their greatest sound yet (besides their homesick work)."

I lost my shit yesterday. The fact is, I'm not a 'fan boy'. I just notice a trend here, that when people don't like something instead of making a decent assessment and unbiased rating they make sure to bury the album entirely - which defeats the purpose of rating sites. You guys are like those people who have to wait too long at a mcdonalds then enjoy the exact meal you wanted as if it's the greatest food on earth and then STILL go and rate the mcdonalds a 1 star because you had to wait. We get it, YOU don't like it and YOU believe its flat and boring ; however, you don't need to go and excessively bring it down. Get your shit together people. (By the way, my actual rating for this album would be 4 or 3.5 on a bad day)

but what if the album sucks

Dude you gotta relax. I've jammed the band since jr high but I just found this album really disappointing.

If the album "sucks" think about why and remove points from there - however, also look at what it actually gets right. This album for example - is one of the first organic albums I've heard in a while from them. There are no unnecessary excessive overdrives like in some of their past albums where it's a forced "heavy" sound etc etc.
"dude check out the lawrence arms and alkaline trio"
Top stuff.
