I love imagining triggering the sampler pads on “angel echoes”. Even tho it doesn’t seem like it the rhythm of the samples is totally regular (you’d press the buttons at regular intervals the whole time). Yeah

"She just likes to fight" gives me the same nostalgic, emotional feeling that EITS' your hand in mine does. Lovely tune.

I would totally hit up the nearest arcade if there was an Angel Echoes rhythm game

This is my 6th Four Tet project that’s I’ve checked out, and this is the one that is finally making it click with me for some reason.

New one is very, very good indeed. Definitely better than this one.

Hmm maybe not. Likely better than his last effort tho

I think the new one is probably, all things considered, his most consistent/all round satisfying

Not quite the same as saying his definitive best or 'best work' - but it's a pleaser

Best on the album for sure. Small step down from Sixteen Oceans, which was in turn a step down from New Energy. One of the most satisfying and/or frustrating things about his discog is that he doesn't really have a definitive best, and likely never will - boi's style is too lackadaisical for a statement album and I vibe him for that

I agree with the general sentiment and it’s a close run thing, but I’d probably go with Rounds as my fave although I’ve not heard them all (ugh, going with the consensus is boring!)

'Rounds' might be technically his most accomplished but as I hinted earlier, that one is quite 'dry' also, whereas the new one is just super agreeable all round and flows all nice etc

New Energy, Pink, Rounds, this and even Parallels are all comfy choices for his strongest - Rounds probably flexes the most versatile skillset, but never left the strongest impression on me tbh

Rounds is special because it has that long track on it (unspoken?) which is one of his best

'And They All Look Broken Hearted' and 'Unspoken' are my two favourites on 'Rounds'
