I honestly believe this album is very well made and has jazz fusion structures woven throughout the production.
Difficult to see past some sticky pop but this is quite good.

I put off listening to Chiodos mainly due to the fact that it sounds as though Craig Owens' testicles are in a vice throughout the record.
My friends would constantly listen to them and they eventually grew on me. They aren't completely hopeless but they aren't at all above averageThis Message Edited On 02.02.08

I like what I've heard from this album but I'm still trying to like the vocals. Not happened yet. I didn't care for what I heard from the new album.

[rocketpower] lameoooo [/rocketpower]
BPB is, in fact, okay. Reminds me somewhat of those Cinematic Sunrise songs for obvious reasons. This, though, doesn't touch it.This Message Edited On 02.21.08

^understandable. Get used to blood brothers in crimes and this won't be a problem

the only song i can stand the vocals on are the words 'best friend'.... the rest of the album would be so much better with a better singer.

This review was not very good...First of all, the writer just made it seem like he was pissed off...I find it hard to take what he says seriously because he obviously gets hung up on miniscule things and he personally hates Chiodos...try writing an objective review.
He mentions originallity, and how chiodos is not. I say to him, what other post-hardcore band has a singer that sings that high. Sure they all sing and scream, but that is practically what defines being post-hardcore. Musically, Owen's has an amazing voice. Also, tell me what band really sounds like Chiodos...

Wrong....
Musically, Owen's has an amazing voice
Wrong again.
Also, tell me what band really sounds like Chiodos...
Well, I might be COMPLETELY off with this comparison, but from what I've heard, Circle Takes the Square. Also Underoath.

Sure they all sing and scream, but that is practically what defines being post-hardcore. Musically, Owen's has an amazing voice. The lyrics are also entertaining. I also have no recollection of any band that is awefully similar to Chiodos.
He mentions how all the guitar work is arpeggiated...yes there is a good amount of this but they do it differently every time they do it. The guitar work flows greatly in this album.
The writer of this review also contradicts himself many times through-out. This, coupled with his complete bias toward the band makes himself sound, I hate to say it but, retarded.
I have no problem with anybody not liking this band. That's their opinion, but don't say that they have no talant.
In my opinion their music is catchy and enjoyable to listen to. I've also seen them live and they put on a great show.

not underoath. and the only reason insect can "stand" the vocals on best friend is because that's the best track

I've never listened to Circle Takes the Square so you may be correct there. But I can't see the Underoath. My point is that not many bands sound like chiodos. You've named (semi agree-ably) one.
Tell me how the review was good. And how I was wrong saying that Owens can sing.....You have presented no evidence to back it up.

i'm not arguing with you. i think he has a solid voice that has a particular timbre that many people have decided not to like.
I was making fun of insect because he acts like craig owens sings any different on that track but really it's just a captivating song.
btw good review as well

owens sound like a dying crow. no other singer i've heard has accomplished making my ears hurt. he's like a botched castrato, pitchy and whiny with nigh any redeeming qualities.
ad nauseum.

Nah, the review was good. I understand your point; this is an incredibly harsh review and the reviewer is known for them. He made some good points tbh.
Also, tell me what band really sounds like Chiodos... Definately not Underoath or CTTS. I honestly can't answer your question, but I can always get my Chiodos-loving friends into Protest the Hero easily.

I know he doesn't sing any differently but as you said it's such a captivating song I don't even notice his voice. It's far and away the best song on the record. I like the interludes too. And 123 to Serpento, although I think Craig improved on BPB.

although I think Craig improved on BPB. Definitely.

This band is really bad. :/

"i'm not arguing with you." I was making those statements to ninjuice because he disaggreed with me and didn't back up his argument.
Protest the Hero is fun to listen to. They are pretty talented.
