Always thought this one was really good. Probably the best behind WTF and COE

Stage would be 4th for me behind Waking, City and this but they all rule.

Eh I would have an incredibly hard time saying CoE, HttK, or S/T rule

I think he just meant those four mentioned.
I honestly don’t like the self titled, HttK, and I don’t particularly care for Seventh Trumpet, though I can recognize that it was basically just a bunch of kids writing songs. They were younger than I am when they made that record

Seventh Trumpet slaps quite a bit imo. Far from perfect but it's chockful of energy and it doesn't stick to linear structures. Prob their funniest all things considered, just listen to that mad infectious part around ~1:20 into Lips of Deceit. It also has their beefiest drum sound
edit: the "doesn't stick to linear structures" bit doesn't make much sense considering how this band often strays from them anyway

Yeah that’s kinda what I meant. It’s a decent enough record and its worth a listen if you’re a fan of the bands later records, but Honestly I just don’t really see the use in listening to it since Waking the Fallen basically rendered it obsolete. It took everything that album did well and made it twice as good.

Really really boring. Mike Portnoy is a beast on Save Me though.

Don’t see how songs like Natural Born Killer or God Hates Us can be boring, but to each his own fam

The album is certainly better than a 1

Perhaps a 1.5. But yeah I think this band got old fast after City of Evil.
They could only use the pop metal format they created a few times before it got stale. Now it's just metallica/maiden/groove/dream theater/korn worship with the odd nod back to their melodic metalcore roots.
There is nothing of interest to cover up that or redeem their terrible songwriting like there was on City of Evil.

To be fair the way he sings "without you" in the chorus of NBK almost wrecks the song alone.
