According to Mess interview, it was his poor live performance (just watch some of the footage), him stating he wanted to "sing even higher" on his third dgd release and that he was smoking two packs a day.
I dont remember where that interview was, but I'm 95% sure my paraphrasing is accurate

The poor live performance thing I have no problems believing as I know that's true

"Nah, he got kicked out of DGD because Will thought they couldn't take their sound any further with Kurt and he was afraid the screams would disappear and DGD would get poppier"
The fuck

this is what I was talking about, but the reason is still pretty much the same. will didn't like the way he sounded.

This news sucks. This whole album is incredible, and no one else in the genre can do quite what they did here.

I mean, I adore this album cause of personal reasons but calm down a bit [2]
that said, I'm sure there may be some "Alone" influence but I doubt it'll sound like a complete Alone sequel

Franzino and Lockwood have both posted their side of the story, don't really know what to think of it after reading Kurt's.

All sides of the story match up, it's really a matter of how the reader reacts to them. Cory posted a lengthy novel about loving and supporting Kurt's every decision and backing him while saying that he himself enjoyed the new challenges and direction of the new tunes. Franzino posted a worthless letter about how people shouldn't question his integrity and blahblahblah.
Both sides have admitted that the new record will be softer and feature no screaming and while that sat well with Cory, it didn't with Kurt. All that's left is to hear the new material and decide for ourselves if we feel it was a sell out move

dont think it was a sell out move tbh loads of band get bored of writing aggressive music.
seems to me like just different people who wanted to do different things. dunno why so many allb fans are getting shitty about it now

people don't like change in their little worlds

I think it has less to do with fans scared of change and more with how Kurt was treated. ALLBs softer songs get the best reaction from what I've Seen (kuroi ledge, properties of friction) and the fan base seems to be VERY flexible to change as it seems most believe the band can do no wrong.
But the manipulative and aggressive way Kurt was strong armed out of the creative process is probably % 90 the reason for backlash

that and the fact the guitarist said the word successful.
