Outside of the vocals I don’t hear it, other than them both playing their interpretation of “rock”. But you are definitely not the first person I’ve heard say that

I thought of The Strokes connection as well. I can't quite put my finger on it, I hear it in the vocals, but beyond that maybe just the arrangements and mood of the songs, idk

This ended up being not as good as I hoped it would be. Everything's Glitter still slaps though, wish there were more songs like it.

I think you’ll like it con. It’s for sure got a couple of low points but I feel like it’s def more your speed than their other records

After listening to this a bunch, i really like it. I actually wouldn't mind if they went even further in this direction. Patient Mind has a great chorus.

They definitely have some refining to do if they stick with a cleaner sound but I also wouldn't mind tbh

I could see them just releasing a mathcore record next tbh. They’re very unpredictable. But odds are if they have their best first week sales with this they’re going to double down on it

Had ultrapop blasting on repeat all week and it’s so much better Jesus

Would be a shame if they committed to this route. I don’t think they will, they’ve never seemed sales focused, tho I guess if it gets more interest regardless it may be where they go

Next release will be a double LP. One mathcore and one groovy rock, meant to be played at the exact same time on top of each other

according to mr. wolski the next album will be These Are Lights 2. I don't think that will be the exact title, but he said "NO THEME. These Are Lights 2. We're gonna have fun and explore after nearly a decade of hammering home one specific fucking thesis."

Haven't heard These Are Lights yet but his wording makes it sound like it could be literally anything
