I think I've finally listened to this enough to rate it.



I can say for sure that the guest vocalist on White Christ is bad, and makes the song almost unlistenable for me. Musically it isn't bad, though. It's kind of different for Insomnium, especially being a mid-tempo song.



I do get the hype about Godforsaken, though. That one is really good. I think Lilian is my favorite song.

The whole thing is catchy. It feels like they traded riffs for more melodies. It makes the whole thing feel very epic (but samey, a little bit).

They've been following that road for some time now. They're also adding more and more black metal elements to their music.

On my first listen, overall it's pretty good but The Rapids is absolutely phenomenal. They should do more music like that.

Haven't listened to this yet but their EP from 2021 was lovely and unexpected

Personally, I didn't hear nearly as much black metal influence on this one as I did on the previous two.
