Gets better with every listen. That crunchiness in the closer, holy moly…

About on par with Omens for me. Really wanted more out of that closer.

There's only one good Elder band and it's this one.

For some reason the vocals on previous releases didn't bother me all that much, and the instrumentals have always been top notch with this band. But everything I throw this on by the second track when the vocals kick in I am already over it. To the me parts with the singing on this record are so....uninspired and don't add much.

Not too familiar with this band, but Catastasis feels very comfy so far. Though, I get what Zakusz is saying. They seem to take in certain elements from bands like Baroness and Opeth, but also tap into post-metal at times. Wish the bass or vocals had a bit more body and girth to complement the bright tone of the dude's vocals.

Sounding fantastic.

Wish the vocals kept the same feel from "Reflections of a Floating World" where it's more like distant yelling, now it's that super sanitized and over-enunciated thing that every prog rock band does. Sucks because the instrumentals here are pretty sweet but I just get annoyed listening to it

I enjoy Nick's vocal work. I didn't listen to Elder until Reflections was released and that record fell in love with it after the first listen. Then went and listened to their debut and then Dead Roots. Dead Roots easy 5/5 for me.
As some of you mentioned this one is a grower. Took a bit of time to finally get it and now I've been listening to it a lot and especially Merged in Dreams and the Purpose.

The outro on Merged In Dreams to the intro on The Purpose is so good. My fav moment on the album.

At first I thought that this was just another good Elder album, better than Omens, not as good as Lore or Reflections. But now I find it's kinda it's own thing--and what makes it superior to Omens is that they've merged the non-heavy, more prog/psych complexity into the songwriting better. So now I think its a STRONG Elder album..

| |
musicianship is still top-notch, but yeah I miss the muddier/gritty/stoner vocals from Lore

Solid record, got that spacey vibe that works with their songwriting style. Wish they did go a bit fuzzier tho agreed
