Maybe, but Renaissance is a good one also
Most Hated I thought had banger after banger, but it is an EP
It's just that RTYWD shares some more poppy elements that change the band's direction completely. Fuck Around and See What You Get is a good song, but it feels patched in the album's feel, and Chimera does that irritating thing where the rapper comes in last minute of the song.

Some of these instrumentals have 11 different song writers credited. This might explain why the music sounds chopped together and busy with sounds.

Gave this another shot and god damn most of the features on here are p bad. Anomaly and the Vai track are the only ones Id ever come back to.

yeah shit is weird... apparently luke holland wrote all the drum parts on this album... despite the band already having a pretty adequate drummer?? their writing process seems a bit overly complicated for what the final product ends up being
also looks like they have at least one hip hop producer and a guy who mainly writes music for tv shows with credited on every track

Playing God and ABC are tunes but the rest sort of washes over me without moving me in any direction

I've never 180'd so hard on a band. Didn't like their old stuff but NLND was the best instrumental guitar record I'd heard since Erotic cakes, and I think this one is even better. I love that the guitars took a backseat and they focused more on textures/guest spots here, would've been a mistake to just drop another guitar album.
It's awesome to hear Tim/Scott taking solos this time too. The death metal solo in Bloodbath is so cool, sounds like Morbid Angel, really takes that song to the next level. This record is the best argument for the unique sounds modeling amps can get (not sure what they were running on NLND but sounds like tube amps with a ton of compression to me).
This album doesn't sound like anything else I've ever heard and the songwriting is all there. Melodies keep revealing themselves and the diversity here is amazing. My highlight has to be Chimera and the Lil West outro makes it, that guitar tone is so nasty when the riff kicks back up.
The way these guys mix accessibility and technicality is so amazing. Instrumental guitar rock has been so stagnant for so long, these guys and AAL worth listening to, and I guess that one CHON record was pretty decent too.
