But in actuality, is this band one of the examples of a vocalist screaming incorrectly for so long that they had to change their style in order to compensate? That has to be the reason, right?

Nah Winston still sounds like a monster live when doing the old stuff, they're just chasing money.

Pie got added to the band last minute because the other guy left and they half taught pie how to do everything and he sort of just made it work on hope. I had their 10 year anniversary book that told the bands whole story. Winston pkayed in Russia in KWAS days extremely sick with neumonia or something. Carrion again was winstons song that was just a bunch of scraps from Horizons recording sessions

Also Winston stumbled into the correct vocal technique. What upsets me most about this change is it feels like they went from awesome down to earth surfer bros to this souless money chasing shit show

This makes me so limp. Like couldn't even "thumb it in" limp. First 4 are by far my favourite Metalcore albums EVER. But this...

This hurts me so much, but so did Ire. The moment he started doing his stupid rapping in Ire they were dead in my eyes.

What rapping did winston do on IRE? Also you listen to hip pop so why would you hate it?

Dangerman Crushed has pseudo rap and was also the start of their descent into Nu metal territory
Same Gnocchi, id like to read a different perspective on this.

I dont think its rap, rap has more rhyme and "flow" to it. We shouldnt put all vocals down as rap because it puts rock/metal bands in a box where theyre not allowed to try different vocal styles. Fast paced spoken word vocals are NOT rap - its just another vocal style in rock/metal music. I would say its much closer to punk than rap
Crushed is one of the weaker tracks in IRE for me, Bottom Feeder also had a spoken word section and was one of the better songs on the album imo

Werent you the same guy thatwent on about "screamo" in which case you put vocals into a box and have contradicted yourself. That quotes making me think of that stupidly fast vocals death metal band that i think dropped a record last year

After listening again for the 3rd or 4th time the problem with this album other than winston not using his great harsh lows enough is some songs dont fit together due to completely different musical atmosphere and vocal delivery, same case with reverence, they should have been sorted like this -
Reverence - wont include if a god can bleed because its too cringey
The Greatest Fear
Wishing Wells
Absolute Power
Cemetery Bloom
Shadow Boxing
Chronos
From the Heart of the Darkness
Darker Still
The Colour of Leaving
Darker Still (needs a different name, its basically ire b sides) -
Ground Zero
Like Napalm
Glitch
Imperial Heretic
Soul Bleach
Prey
The Void
I Hope You Rot
Stranger
Land of the Lost
In Blood

If a God can bleed is a contender for worst song of the year. At least Soul Bleach picks up pretty well after it.

Idk, it's not entirely unsalvagable but it's still really bad. I don't think there's just one solid song where there isn't some part that ruins the experience. Couple of decent riffs, the harsh vox aren't completely gone, but it's a far cry from what makes parkway good.
I had to reread the review again and its really spot on. It does make you look back at "Reverence" a little fonder, I actually bumped it up because it's not worse than this album, I'm really considering a 1.5 but I don't think it matters that much. It's definitely worst PD though.
