Haha, ouch 🤕

If someone says ‘prog cabaret style’ I’d usually expect the worst, not a real fan of Mr Bungle or Mars Volta etc but this is just smooth and accessibly virtuosic, a mini miracle

This is definitely their best album yet, not quite the masterpiece I think they have in them. But it doesn’t really need to be, band just makes fun music

kicks ass, as expected. I'll never understand how people can assemble songs like this. What kind of drugs can give one this ability? I'm gonna say some mixture of cocaine and bug juice

‘What sticks in my craw abt these guys and windmillcore more generally is the sense that they're the perfect Current Year rock band on paper but the songs themselves just aren't there.’

This sounds like the modern interpretation of ‘they hit the notes, but the notes themselves are gay’.

Windmillcore though… what?

The Windmill is the now world famous Brixton venue where this band cut their teeth post-BRIT School and the rest of their scene subsequently emerged from

i love hating certain aspects of the uk music scene, its my fav past time

but seriously, fuck our weird school system and the elitism that comes along with it.

i have decided to start writing off bands as brit school wank when their members have multiple posho names (some more than others yes)

geordie, morgan and cameron

in pale waves we have Heather Baron-Gracie, Ciara, Hugo and Charlie (least posh)

in wolf alice we have dear Ellie, Joff (rofl) and fucking Theo

looking up the school and notable alumni ellie from wolf alice went to is mental

and then theres the plebs like the rest of us going to just some rando school in staines rofl

its just tiring living in a country where success is largely determined by what school you went to and who you know from a young age

its just depressing watching the news on the tv and finding out the journalist and politican being interviewed went to eton together. its depressing hearing a new band on the radio and finding out that denise welch is the singers mum. or finding out that the actor your watching is lily allens brother, who both had well connected parents. it can just be disheartening and after a while you can start to slightly resent people for their success even tho its not really their fault and theyre probably not bad people

when they start mouthing off about how they deserved to get where they are/hard work etc then you know theyre cunts tho

> its just tiring living in a country where success is largely determined by what school you went to and who you know from a young age

and this literally extends to music as well?? Your indie/alternative/weird band is more likely to be successful if you went to an elite academy?
