The JP bonus track NWOBHEAD is very Maiden-esque in terms of musicianship. Doesn't have the same sort of lyrics as general Carcass either, almost like a Blackstar song.

Judging by the genre tag in the wikipedia article, they returned to the death 'n' roll style of that album.

yet I would add that, while keeping those rock hooks, the album manages to be also a little heavier/ more metal than Swansong. Plus the writing here seems tighter, but I'm no Swansong expert.

Yep. It would be a doing this a disservice to say it was too much like Swansong, there are definitely elements of that sound but it certainly isn't a carbon copy or anything close to that. Plus it's better, so yeah.
