The only good thing about this album is that you can tell by the first 5 seconds of each song that you'll hate it and just skip it.

To this album's credit it does have quite a few moments that made me audibly laugh out loud.

The obnoxious ending of Brick Wall

Fuck you I resignate

BLOODSUCKEEEEEER

Tbh I checked out after Resentment. Hardly remember anything after that.

Re-listening to Common Courtesy right now. It's about as perfect as a A Day to Remember album can be.

Right of the bat you have this one-two punch in City of Ocala/Right Back at Again which are filled with cliche but well written lyrics and super memorable hooks that aren't cheap.

And then after that you get "Sometimes You're The Hammer" which has a great emotional bridge/ending complementing the heavier sections really well. Also helps that those riffs are actually badass and not just mindless chugging. This and Violence are my two favorite heavy songs they've made probably.

There's a flow to the album, each song feeds into the next one nicely. The more pop-punk songs have elements of the heavy stuff and vice-versa without it being super goofy like it was on Homesick (that had its charm too don't get me wrong). The ballads/softer stuff also hits the mark.

Fuck this new one haha. (Sorry for the long comment).

Gonna check this now and I'm sure I'll give it a 1 or 1.5.

Question is, were these guys ever any good?

Common Courtesy was the last time I was genuinely excited to hear new music from ADTR. As soon as the band members hit 30 and onwards it all went downhill.

Bad Vibrations was okay but yeah something was missing. Also that horrendous production.

They should have released this album in 2020 so we could have left it there to die
