I'm that hipster who prefers Autumn over valkyrie or ascent

Autumn really moves me in parts, I just wish the instrumental was a little more memorable

After their trinity River's End, Bloom and In Contact, RR was bound to fail in meeting expectations. It's such a solid album, but sth is missing

Nah, this hangs with the rest. Loaded with good jams.

It's definitely one of the better prog metal albums that came this year (looking at you, Virus!)

Disappointed by that too. Not sure what happened. That wasn't just a left turn... felt like the damn car broke down, idk.

Nah, that's quite harsh on Virus imo. It's a fine album. I feel like it's a little uninspired in too many places though. Kind of a sequel syndrome maybe?

I'll have to listen again. I couldn't vibe with it at all last time I put it on.

Maybe. Combined with Vector it's a really nice experiment, and at the end of the day I'm glad they went with it. It's always fun to listen to it, even if it doesn't meet expectations, because it's Haken, there's no way it can be bad. But I'm waiting to see what comes next, maybe Henshall puts some of the wizardry he tried on Cocoon.

Never really listened to this band before, but I’m digging this much more than I anticipated. This is pretty much what I wish Haken sounded like on their past few albums.

Take a peek at Arcane's Known/Learned album from 5 years ago. Quite an album. A bit different from the ''solo-centric'' tendencies of C's Horse and Haken, but still an amazing prog album.

That one I’ve heard - it’s a little long imo but the content is quite good.

Yes, it can be described as bloated, but I can listen to the two discs seperately, so it doesn't bother me

The lead work on this is sooooo damn good

Really wish they tacked on a culminating track after the Ascent, even if it were just a 2-3 minute coda in the same vein as Resonance. That’s the only
thing that holds the album back a bit for me, though; It’s exceptionally paced otherwise.

Some real highs and some mediocre moments deter me from thinking it's as strong as some of you suggest. In Contact and Bloom are still above this to me.
