"I dig none of the ones that Pots mentioned. Well, maybe Beyonce, a little"
You both missed the point. I said for better or worse for a reason. Like it or not they are all immediately recognizable and iconic because of it. Regardless of whether you dig them their lasting fame, or in the cases of the few newbies their rising fame, hinges on that.

Perfectly serviceable, fun-ish album I guess but I swear the pop releases that get lots of traction on sites like this and RYM seem to be randomised.
p4k 7.5'd it? Ah there we are.

I did miss that bit so it makes more sense now. Her voice definitely doesn't stand out as the main character of the songs as the artists you listed do. I think there is room for subtlety in pop music though as she generally rides the wave of good songwriting and production choices.
But I still disagree that there isn't a barrier. For example you named Rita Ora and Charli XCX who for me are two singers who I'd never mix up at all and barely sound remotely alike to me. And Dua Lipa to me sounds like neither of them either. I definitely think being accustomed to regional accents plays a part in distinguishability between vocalists. You might as well lump someone like Ellie Goulding in there for me for British singers who sound nothing like each other.
Also while in an immediate sense I agree that many artists have an intrinsic overt personality in their voices that separates them, I think the familiarity aspect can't be ignored. Sure those artists naturally set themselves apart. but plenty of artists can be perceived as having personality in their voice just because their voice has been heard so many times.

ok ok, pots, let me rephrase...
"I can't recognize any of the ones that Pots mentioned. Well, maybe Beyonce, a little"
Edit: I wouldn't be able to recognize this girl either probably.
But still...
I like the album?

"although it does make me want to listen to shiny toy guns - you are the one immediately after"
wow just the name of that song brought back some mad nostalgia, might have to listen to this purely for that

Title track is nice. Cool is cool. Break My Heart is catchy. Levitating and Pretty Please are awesome. Everything else just feels so average and forgettable tho.

That statement is sad but true. Most people who appreciate pop albums or singer are part of the lgbt community.
Except Lady gaga who got respect of the metal community after playing with metallica.

Also, there does seem to be a trend with pop album's popularity on RYM and here. Modern synthpop. Yes, I said it. Apparently, straight men love them synths in their pop. Huh.

I'm not an LGBT authority of any kind, but I definitely think pop just has mass appeal and people from many different communities are drawn to it. I've loved a handful of pop albums only to find out they were some kind of LGBT statement after the fact. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
