The real question is if they will have that chello guy back on tour. That was pretty cool last time.

Yea, I'd be fine if he joined the band actually. Loved the strings on Malina, but I guess they just can't use them all the time.

I really connect much more with the older, fast-tempo, more progressive Leprous, however, this album is great. This really seems more like a solo project for Einar. However...

...the last 2 tracks, specially the "The sky is red" finale, are amazing.

2. "If this is their only album like this, it’s a good add to their discography. If this is setting them up to be prog pop for the next few albums, I’ll be disappointed."

Foreigner is fun. Wish the album had more fun guitar parts like that

The only fun part of Foreigner is the guitar part though - not major into the rest of the song

Doof, listen to Malina - it's in the same style but much better

Malina is great, but not the same style

How is it not the same style? The instrumentation is very meek, all focus is on Einar. Just because it has actual guitar parts...

It's not like they prog the fuck out on it like they did on Bilateral

This is more vocal oriented, way more than Malina. Except the last minutes of the sky is red, omg, love them, so disturbing. Godly outtro.

Y'all are insane. This is just more stripped down. The riffs in Malina are basic for the most part and serve to emphasize whatever Einar is doing. Listen to Illuminate and From the Flame - you'd be hardpressed to call those tracks prog, because, well, they aren't.

The key difference here is that there are far fewer guitar parts - the rest is essentially the same. Keys? Got em. Cool drum fills? Got em. Einar singing his heart out? Got em.

My favorite from Malina is Mirage. A 5/5 track for me. The last milestone is the worst Leprous song ever.

The Last Milestone could be on this album and no one would notice

Also, are you telling me that The Weight of Disaster doesn't sound similar to this stuff?

This and Malina are still very different imo. Yes, Einar is front and center in both of them, but a song like By My Throne is completely different to everything on Malina.

Also, they need to close their shows with The Sky is Red, that song rips.

I don't know, man, I think the transition has been very very subtle. If they had released Malina after, say, Bilateral, people would have probably complained in a similar fashion.

Qwenta, do the last three minutes of Malina (the track) not sound like something from this album?

Actually, this is closer to Malina than Malina is to any previous album.
