In my circle of friends Atreyu were pretty much revered by the time the debut came out so idk Storm.

oh my bad I thought we were talking about the internet not people in physical situations with other people.

If I remember correctly, we didn't even have internet by the time Butterfly kisses came out lol
I guess the feeling was different in the US, but yeah, southern Spain young'uns we were impressed with very little ;)

it could also be that in my opinion they weren't even popular enough to be measured on a yard stick until Right Side of the Bed came out and that's 5 years or 6 years later after what you're talking about lol

Yeah man, tbh after The Curse i don't think any of us really followed them anymore.

This isn’t THAT bad, yeah it’s generic but if you can turn your brain off it’s still enjoyable

Yeah, it's just really forgettable. I can't remember a single hook other than "Terrified" and the closer at this point.

@Storm nah man their first album was well received by the metalcore scene. It wasn't until The Curse where they started getting the big backlash from the scene and other metalheads.

I understand that. What you are not understanding is that I am saying they were not relevant enough BEFORE The Curse. They were not relevant enough yet to say people ostracized them or liked them. Most region sized bands are well liked by their community as a given. A general opinion such as "backlash" and "criticism" was not possible before 2004 because the internet didn't know Atreyu.

I didn't realize their relevancy or popularity was your point. But dude, I was on the internet when their first album came out, I was really into metalcore and screamo at the time, and they definitely had a big buzz around them in that scene after their first album. They sold a quarter of a million on that first album, they were well known on the internet at the time in the metal community. People liked them. Then they ostracized them when The Curse came out. And frankly that's when I checked out too, but their first album gave them a lot of positive buzz and hope in the metal scene at the time, if your experience was different I'd love to hear it.
