yup, this is solid 4.2 material... I agree with production, is a bit muddy to my taste, but not so much as to damage the album...

I thought some of the guitar riffs had a bit of a Mastodon feel to it.

Not only the riffs, his harsh vocals sound very much like Troy Sanders "cleanish" harshs on a few songs. A Prime example would be Eternal Light towards the end "eternallyyyyyy, oblivionnnnnnnnn".
Also the drumming and especially the fills. And the guitar solos are straight from Crack The Skye in terms of style. I saw them live yesterday and Liam (the drummer) couldn't keep his boner for Mastodon down when i nerded with him about favorite bands. So there you have it

Sounds like they went for an intentional decision to make the production less slick but in the process they lost the atmosphere created by the vocal and guitar melodies without compensating with actually getting the character you want from a muddier production job.

I love the fact that they got a fair bit of attention this time around. Times seem to be pretty good for them, and unlike Arcane Roots they don't have financial struggles from what i can tell

Ulcerate - Everything is Fire... Arguably the pinnacle of the dissonant/tech death metal sub-genre (if such a thing really exists).

Uh nice... their sput site says they are also Post and Prog Metal - are there any similarities to ISIS, Rosetta, Amenra etc?
