My guess is her older stuff has more of that, The Miraculous has more succinct songwriting than this one and from what I can tell her first two even more so.

this album seems to go by so quickly, it's easy to get lost in

Her debut was more folky and Ceremonies was... idk how to describe it, massive pipe organ dark stuff like Dead Can Dance meets Diamanda Galas?

Agreed Aaron, both of the long tracks go by incredibly fast, they’re just so immersive.

yeah very true, I need to check out her earlier work as well, I love good folk music. Always has a "music from the past" feel to it

I wasn’t quite convinced on the first couple listens but I quickly became hooked.

For those who've been asking, the cover artwork is a photograph taken by Maria Von Hausswolff (her sister I think) according to the liner notes. It don't think it's Begotten.

She has a nice voice. I wonder if there's a band playing or she programs the stuff

It's a band, saw them live in London a few nights ago. One of the best shows I've ever seen, the material on the album is even more primal and gargantuan live - definitely see her if you get the chance!

" Me, my band and Randall Dunn spent 9 days in Copenhagen recording this record. The great pipe organ you're hearing is a 20th century instrument located in Marmor Kirken, "The Marble Church", Copenhagen."

Good thing to point out. The Begotten character has a wide open flap for a mouth and a hairstyle that's fairly dissimilar. Still, definitely reminiscent of the movie.

although apparently she does know the movie as she has images from it on her Twitter. From like 3 years ago, funnily enough.

Maybe she just wanted to do her own version inspired by the movie.

@Mason that's amazing man, wish I could see her live with the band someday.
