I appreciate the thoughtful response Blush, your alternate reading of the album is compelling. I'll think about the communal aspect and see if that shifts how I feel about her new work. Was a rough day when I first heard the record so that might have factored into my distaste, I'll approach it with less reservations when the time feels right.

Well, dammit, I couldn't even finish a second listen today. Might be she singing on the same key over and over and the shift to piano but I am not feeling TOTL as much as I felt Sprained Ankle on first listens. I'll do like Lucid and give it a fresh listen tomorrow. Gonna settle on a 3.5 for now.

My main problem so far is that the tracks kinda blend together, and even on my fourth listen I can empathize with Dewinged that she seems to repeat the same melodies here and there. Even so, what's here is beautiful and it's firmly found a place on my year-end list. The lyrics here are simply gorgeous.

Lyrically she is unmatched. The girl destroys you with 2 sentences, but I feel like she is too comfortable in that key/melody because it allows her to unleash that torrent of voice she pulls off.
