that's a shame considering they're probably the best band in this genre by a fuckin mile

both deftones and chevelle were only nu-metal/post-grunge for like 1 or 2 albums...neither are angsty enough to fit this genre imo

they definitely are. lyrics aren't trash, pete loeffler is a much more interesting guitarist, better songwriting

ehhh Loeffler's lyrics aren't that great. he's a better guitarist but there's no doubt they have similar styles. Breaking Benjamin's songs might even be a bit more complex lmao

I just think the one thing Chevelle have going for them (and always have had) that BB don't is uniqueness. Regardless of whether Loeffler's lyrics, or guitar style, or vocals, or songwriting is any better than Burnley's, all Chevelle's songs sound inherently and identifiably theirs, whereas most of Burnley's songs could fit right in on "generic post grunge album #209" by "generic post grunge band #32."

Finally heard in full for the first time. I have to admit, it was sensibly weaker than what I thought. I feel the singles are easily the best tracks, followed by Ashes of Eden. The rest I hope will grow on me a bit, because as it is this is my second least favorite. Probably going to give it a 3 because as a whole I like it more than We Are Not Alone, production is some of their best yet, the interplay between Ashes of Eden and Defeated is pretty effective, and at around 40 minutes it's not tiring. Breaking The Silence is one of the few Breaking Benjamin songs I really dislike, though.

Breaking the Silence and Never Again are the worst songs on here

@Toon: Agreed.

@Snide: I wouldn't go that far but yeah I dig it too.

I think it's a mix of everything. Breaking The Silence is basically Sugarcoat 2.0... and that's my least favorite song on Saturate, but oh well.

I feel like I underrated Failure when it dropped as a single.

that's funny because Sugarcoat is supposedly one of the more favorable songs on Saturate. Same thing with Home.

Yeah Breaking The Silence is definitely Sugarcoat pt. 2

But it's got more of a second-rate Red song feel to it than Sugarcoat does
