They are exactly the type of band to fly under my radar (they always seemed to pop up when I was listening to freak folk which isn't really endearing to me), but I will check it out.

Eh... I am wary of new albums by 60s/70s bands. But I will give it a shot, too.

It's not that funny. I realize I may be one of few who feels this way, but I find it is rare for a band to still be making good albums past 50. It seems like once middle age is over, the spark just isn't there anymore.

i think sonic was fuckin around
Lioness, have you checked out any Boards of Canada albums?

XD Oh, like I said I am not up to date yet.
I know musicians I love dig BoC so I admit I am embarrassed I haven't given them a serious listen yet.
|
| |
check out Music Has the Right to Children asap! i think you'd dig it if you like Shpongle.
|
| |
I think Geoggaddi is a better start
|
| |
hmm maybe
Geogaddi is pretty inaccessible, ultimately it is the better album yes but i find MHTRTC a bit easier to grasp immediately
|
| |
I loved Geogaddi immediately and MHTRTC kinda left me in the cold at first
I haven't listened more than once but yeah

Don't really feel any other group does world and psybient quite like Shpongle does, they normally just leave me wanting more.
|

I fucking love Brain in a Fishtank now after being kind of ambivalent towards it upon first listen. I hope the rest of the album grows similarly.

Acanthus dude check Globular and Radioactive Sandwich's new release. I think you'd dig it pretty hard.
And I agree with demi, start with MHTRTC not Geo.
