A New Era has some of their best guitar work and drumming, despite the repetitive chugging and the drumming itself being out of place with the rest of the music at times, like with skank beats and blasting. It seemed like he played them just because he could, even when it didn't fit the music. This was the closest they got to fixing those flaws, and OEW was a step back unfortunately. I don't understand why their lyrics got so much worse.
Daemon is one of the best deathcore songs ever written though. Haven't jammed this band much lately, but if I were to rank them it'd probably be this>New Era>Exile>Endless War>Somatic Defilement

OEW had fantastic drumming imo. But I fully agree New Era had drumming that just didn't fit. Blasting during slow chugging just sounds weird to me, that's not to knock his drumming skills. He maybe just preferred playing more DM style music instead of the shuggah stuff this album was full of.

OEW did have great drumming chug73, and I'm pretty sure we've had this discussion before about the drumming on New Era, and probably Exile. Glad someone else hears it too.
Daemon always sounded so powerful to me, especially everything in between the intro and outro. fun song to play on my 7-string

So it was you I had this convo about, thought it was gameofmetal for some reason. I used to play drums to when I hear something like that it tends to stick out. New Era also just didn't have the songwriting tbh. But it's pretty much agreed that Proframmed to Hate (w Chino) is fantastic. Also Devolver goes hard with that tuned to E drone part.

I used to play/fake Darkest Day of Man and Programmed to Hate on drums all the time, they were so fun. All the best songs on Exile and New Era are the first five, with maybe one in the second half, like Daemon. The rest are pretty boring, like they could only come up with six interesting songs per album, but A New Era is more technical overall so I consider it slightly better. At least this and OEW have the great songs throughout, so a whole listen feels more consistent along with the better use of drumming.

That breakdown on the last track gets me every time. Like... the buildup from how slow the song is to just all slamming down on your ears gives me chills.

woah, I really enjoyed this self-titled. It's catchy and easy to listen more than anything they've done previously. Although I loved the previous outputs too, this one is really cool and probably more mature.

I’m not even really making fun of the cupcakke song, I’m making fun of pitchfork acting like “peeing on the dick” is a smart lyric
