Is it a christian band?

Yes but the overtones are not there in the majority of the tracks.

I always knew a comment could be too short, but never knew it could be "too long" after all those replies. As they say, you learn something every day.
Thanks Acanthus... Although, if you fail your class, I take no responsibility whatsoever.
Haha Narshh. I must admit that I did miss my invite to the Pity Party this time around.
Baph, we don't need a room... We need a car park. To like, park our cars, or something.
Yes Keith. If you delve into the lyrics, you can tell. If you don't, you won't... Other than on 'Fix Me', which is blatantly obvious.

Iunno, there's some fast double bass runs in that first 7 seconds or whatever but I didn't catch any blastbeats. This just sounds like Emery always has but with really awkward/forced breakdowns thrown in to appeal to the "metalcore" crowd. I'll just stick with The Week's End and The Question I guess.

Emery, I am disappoint. Still, this only my first listen. I probably rate it later

If pink gave it a 4.5 I'll probably like this. I strongly dislike all of their album covers except shallow seas, they are so generic looking. Just saying.

Great review big boy. I wasn't a big fan of their last one but I'll give this a spin.

it's always great to spin some classic Emery. Some 'Walls', 'Ponytail' & most of 'The Question'.
I'll trust your judgment/knowledge over mine on that Brent. There should still be some catchy stuff that you'd like.
I'm not a huge album cover lover or hater full stop, but I don't know about this one. I think it's a little way of reminding people they're a christian band... Becuase the lyrics of 'Fix Me' wasn't enough.
Thanks AwesomeSauce... As crazy as you are for not liking 'ISSWS'.
Hello Winsomniac. I'd say I'll quit reviewing Emery for another 2 years, but it looks like they're gonna release an acoustic EP later this year. Wonder if there'll be breakdowns!?

Yeah, it's catchy enough I guess. I dunno, this is just falling as flat as I'm Only A Man did for me. Even though I guess it's "heavier" there's just no umph to it. It feels like a lot of "heavy" bits thrown into a bunch of average b-sides from their back catalogue to me.

"... there's just no umph to it. It feels like a lot of "heavy" bits thrown into a bunch of average b-sides from their back catalogue to me."
Ouch, that's a little harsh. And I believe the Oxford dictionary suggests the correct spelling is "oomph". ;-)

Maybe it's just the fact that their other vocalist left, but the whole thing just feels like it's missing something. Their harmonies where one of the main things that set them apart from the rest of the post-hardcore hordes for me, and now that that's gone and they've added extra heaviness seemingly to make up for it, it just feels like they're blending into the crowd now.

In Shallow Seas will haunt them for the rest of their lives. I blame I'm Only A Man... It made them lift their game too much, too early in their career.

Is it a christian band?
'Jesus fix me' (in Fix Me, duhh) gave them away.
Also, I'm beginning to enjoy this more than In Shallow Seas... rad!
