yeah im just shootin the shit, i like a decent bit of 60s/70s prog. this is pretty distinct though, feels kind of wrong lumping it in with the canterbury scene and that kind of stuff

Not all of it. There are a lot of good bands after the 70's other than those two, and that's excluding prog metal.

To be fair, I think I've heard 3 of those. For all I know, prog metal's my favorite genre and I just don't know it yet.
