Never really understood why this album has a bad rap (at least in comparison to the rest of their discography). It has everything, the brutal (Hexagram, When Girls Telephone Boys), the beautiful (Anniversary Of An Uninteresting Event, Minerva), the progressive (Battle-axe, Deathblow), and even the subdued and curiously strange (Lucky You). Tasty album, as all their albums are IMO.

Oh definitely, this album rules. My favorite Deftones album after White Pony and (really close call actually) Adrenaline. But this is definitely better (IMO) than Around the Fur and Saturday Night Wrist.
Can't wait to hear some new stuff from these guys (and best wishes to Chi and his family).

I find it very hard to choose a favorite album out of all their records....every one of them is great. I will agree that White Pony is a 5 though, its such a great album. This is my favorite though, cause of the range of all the songs present. Some songs are really heavy and others are so atmospheric and melodic.

Saturday Night was my favourite for a long time, it's only flaw is Pink Cellphone which isn't even that bad. White Pony slays the whole time, but this just seems to have moments where they seem uninspired, but they are few and far between. It still slays though.

Meh, I still like this better than SNW. Adrenaline is high on my list for sentimental reasons. This album just fucking rules. Needles and Pins, Deathblow, Good Morning Beautiful, Battle Axe -- all fucking classics. Not to mention WGTB, Moana and Bloody Cape. Full of top-notch songs.

Yeah, Saturday Night Wrist is such a great album. I like the first half of the album more than the second, "Beware" and "Cherry Waves" have some of Chino's best vocal work ever. "Rats!Rats!Rats!" gets me every time though....it's so awesome.

the breakdown in Rats!Rats!Rats! is so sick. I actually kind of like Pink Cellphone, it's just that girl talking at the end that almost ruins it.

I remember back when this came out. Maybe it was just me not actively searching for Deftones news, but I remember walking into a cd store and just seeing it there, no hype at all. I didn't even know it was coming out.
I truly love this album, but White Pony will always be at the top of my list.

oh man, I had been waiting on this album for months when it came out. I remember that day vividly, probably because I got robbed on the way to get the record. Dude had a knife and only took the cash that I had on me (which was like 25 bucks), but it still sucked.
Luckily, I had a debit card (even though I was 17) and was still able to get my CD. It was the only thing that made that day somewhat better. Looking back, it's kind of a surreal memory.

Yeah I know what you mean Deviant. I too just saw it sitting there on the shelves at the store. I didnt even listen to them back when it came out though, only years later did I find out how amazing this album is. The breakdown in "Rats!Rats!Rats!" is indeed awesome, but the ending of "Bloody Cape" is quite possibly my favorite Deftones moment ever.

Lotion off of Around The Fur, song is absolute sickness. Makes me want to get up and break stuff lol.

Glad to see this album getting a lot of praise from people. I couldn't agree with you more, this album has some of their most unique and original material that they ever wrote. It's like they took White Pony and had sex with Around the Fur, and this what came out.

Love this shit, listened to it again last night. Never gets old. My second favorite from Deftones besides White Pony (and it's really close)

I saw this for 5$ at record store, but I didn't get it since I'm low on money and don't really like them that much.

^oh man, you're missing out on a great album. But then again, I'm not sure if this would really change your mind about Deftones either (depending on what you've already heard)
