It sounds like you are completely bias toward as i lay dying. I agree that, like most metalcore albums, this album does get repetitive, but it has very many pros as well. The guitar isn't flashy by any means, but it is catchy and brutal as fuck. and i guess it's a matter of personal taste but i really like tim's screaming. i think this album deserves atleast a 3, it is an above average metalcore album.

If there's a more subjective term than catchy I haven't heard it and also care to tell me what makes them "brutal"?

See unfortunately for you, I grade metalcore albums on a curve and so this has to be graded in the same category as Deadguy. 1.5 is perfect score.
