I love this album. People may say its generic which is fine, its all dependent on the person as to what aspects of the music catches their attention.
I think this album has more than one sound. Theres the rock sound of "The pretender" and "Cheer up boys" then theres the acoustic rock sound of "stranger things have happened" and then theres the melodic acoustic sound of "ballad of the beaconsfield miners" which has a very emmanuel brothers feel to it. The evolution of there music is subtle but it is there.
I went and saw this albums tour and its was fantastic. They changed the sound of some of there older songs from what they were on the albums, which i think shows there musical advancement.

Strange how I got this one in 2007 and it initially wasn't anything special, deserved 3 at the time (mainly because of the superior 'The Pretender' & bittersweet 'Let it Die'. Now I've found some new aspects, songs like 'Stranger Things have happened' and 'Come Alive' are demanding more of my attention. It achieves "great" status.This Message Edited On 03.14.09

I have to agree with this review 100%. I quite liked TCATS, and a few tracks off OBO were good but this album is just so bland and uninteresting. The first track is great, but everything else just seems like filler to me. I don't think I'll be buying anything else by these guys in the future.
