I think the positive hype around this has a lot of truth to it. However, I do have to say this album just makes me want to listen to Aspherium's 2014 offering instead. Or just go full cheese with Mechina. I guess there's only so much mindspace for sci-fi metal in my head?

Mechina over this, you crazy ;) but honestly that band is a one trick pony.

Yeah, Mechina is pretty one-dimensional compared to other bands but sometimes you want that quick bite on the go rather then sitting down and having a more complete meal.

(There went my prog/post metal cred smh)

>I find that just about all the greatest thrash albums have a ballad and Collapse definitely delivers

the better (thrash) metal albums are all certainly more than just a collection of thrash riffs

I find it funny that everyone is considering Collapse a ballad. I'm not saying it's wrong to call it that by any means, just funny terminology to me. Is One a ballad? Is Fade to Black a ballad? What classifies something as a ballad? Just because there are clean vocals and clean guitar passages? Is Forests of Legend not a ballad? I'm confused haha.

And yes, we do love 70's prog rock a lot. Rush and Pink Floyd are some of our biggest influences collectively in the band.

Well, balads most of the time have a clean section with vocals that goes on for about half of the song, then it builds into more distorted guitars in the second half. I think the reason why Forests of Legend isn't really a ballad is because the clean section isn't that long and there are no vocals during that part. That's just my 2 cents, I dunno what the rest of this community thinks.

What's actually your favorite prog rock album? Or some of your favorites?

When Psychotropia was playing I thought it was a Death cover at first.

This is miles better than anything Death has ever done though. Honestly don't see much similiarity in that song at all, and that's probably my favorite of this album

Only heard some songs of that album in particular. Only thing that reminds me of Death in that song is the breakdown
