Can't get into Be'lakor either. Instrumentally they are brilliant but the vocals just irritate me to the point where I just can't enjoy their releases.

Last Be'lakor album was great and somewhat fresh and different from their other works, most consistently great melodeath act.

Nous somme la guerre is surprisingly the blandest song here imo, despite the female intro/outro vocals after a few album spins.

Rest is unbelievably good for such a longstanding band, definitely a 4.0 or even more, those choruses, damn! Drums sound a bit thin, though.

Strids' vocals cover pretty much all Soilwork eras and the superb high cleans are a nice touch, hope he can keep them for the next albums.

Album is pretty long but has enough variety and acoustic breathing pauses atleast for my tastes.

On the Wings of a Goddess through Flaming Sheets of Rain is one of the most ridiculous titles ever, but goddamn it might be my favorite Soilwork song of all time

Yea Be'lakor are amazing, but they score entirely on melodies, their riffs are very tame and preditable, which makes many people consider them sleepy and unexciting. Kinda amazing that music with such easily identifiable flaws consistently gets averages of 4.0 and higher

'their riffs are very tame and preditable'

that actually applies to most if not all melodeath

that's why it's generally considered a good entry genre
