The album's gotten better with subsequent plays, but some of my favourite songs have had somewhat diminishing returns, like The title track

Re: earlier discussions on double albums and length, sometimes I think I kind of prefer a true double album to a longer (like 60-70 minute) single album because I feel you’re not totally expected to consume it all in one go, so some of that burden is lifted. I usually like to listen to albums in full as much as possible but with this that will rarely be possible for me because of how my life and listening time are organized, but, in this case I won’t feel bad for dipping in for a few tracks at a time or going by “disk.”

wish I could launch that fucking boing noise on Spud into the sun

I could see it grating on someone's nerves but I sort of enjoy the band's playfulness, as I do when it surfaces in other instances here. I don't think it's a top 5 song here or anything though, right now that's reserved for No Reason, Simulation Swarm, Sparrow, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, and Promise is a Pendulum.

top 5 is probably Flower of Blood, Sim Swarm, Time Escaping, Little Things and The Only Place for me. lots of contenders for those thrones tho

Indeed. This is one of those albums where every song is uniquely palatable enough to become someone's favorite, so we're unlikely to read a ton of precise overlap. I do like all the songs you mentioned though, especially Flower of Blood and Time Escaping.

Spud Infinity is a stellar song. Good album, love the variety. Waiting to see if initial feelings are tied more to the eclecticism than the writing that sustains it, but I have a good feeling about them long legs. With Boney on double albums and the dip in/dip out. Appropriate sprawl for the daily minutiae that interrupts it.
