His voice is good, but this whole thing just seems so bland aside from a few songs. Just way too top 40 esque

As much as I liked their previous, I kinda wish I cared more to check this one out. Oh well, there's always next year...

Just listen to the title track and you'll have everything you need from this

I feel like the song title is mentioned in the chorus of 2/3 of the tracks on this

I enjoyed this album, just lost its way a little towards the end. A strong 3.5.

Can’t help but feel like the singles were the strongest songs here. Surrender and Lost and Left Behind, although great, were very similar to some of the other songs especially with the melodies & song structure.

Appreciate how different the track in Persian is but for me its a pretty much one and done.

The fact that they released the closer as a single doesn’t help either. Definitely not disappointed since I do enjoy more than half of the songs but idk man overall as an album it starts to lose steam in the 2nd half, I think it would’ve worked much better as an EP.

the excess fluff and formulaic nature of nearly every song title being in its respective chorus really brought this down

I still really like Alleviate and moth to a flame’s chorus tho

Might bump this to a 3 later but most of this was pretty generic metalcore. However, Moth to the Flame and This Too Shall Pass were excellent and the closer was pretty decent too.

"unsurprisingly, the song title is in the chorus"

If I were a song I'd put you in my chorus.

I remember hearing the tt and thinking "wow this is solid, I wonder what else they can do" and then it was a whole album of the same song.

This is good, but not much more than that. I struggle to see the lyrical depth mentioned in the review, although it (the review) is well written overall. The lyrics are repetitive and the album just tends to blend together.

This definitely has its moments (Temptation and Heaven in Hiding are highlights), but it rarely leaves the formulaic "epic metalcore" box it's settled itself in. Turn the Light On had similar problems, but was both more entertaining and didn't feel tired as often as this does.

Agreed, Steak. I wish it was more lyrically inspired too. Always the same motifs, light, dark, shadows, heart, soul...
