I think people are latching onto this more because it's easily the most cohesive and thought out front-to-back project they've ever done. While I love Pop Culture and the two albums I never listen to them front to back... opting to just shuffle the entire discog to get a mix of all the different vibes instead. This thing is the first time they ever seemed to care about the "full experience" per se.
Also I think being an EP it's a lot more digestible than the 30-40 minute albums for a lot of people.
