about five tracks into this and i want to kill myself

Yesterday reading Billy's Q&A someone asked "are you going to collaborate with Ed Roland of Collective Soul?" and he answered "The block of the day" I started to cry-laugh
|
| |
Yeah, this is a yawnfest. I'd add that, to my ears anyway, Billy's voice is starting to show it's age.

Unbelievably hard to listen to this all the way through. On my third attempt now. God, it sucks.

nothing here vocally is worse than Zeitgeist
|
| |
It’s the worst of the Killers trying to cover the worst of New Order and doing an unbelievably shit job.

hey that Shadowplay song is great
|
| |
Credit where it’s due though at least Colour is spelt correctly

Corgan has always been an extremely weak vocalist, he's just forgotten how to write songs that take that into account and work it to their advantage
|

I'm not going to blame you all for begging him to reunite the pumpkins at the begining of the 00's (because I did not) but that's what you get for your bullshit. You wanted the pumpkins back? you got it. Now deal with it. I'm tired of some idiots here asking for a reunion and then throwing bullshit. I saw it with the pixies and now with the pumpkins. Stop acting like crying babies.

hey rodrigo there's this girl who really likes me but i don't really like her, i have no idea how to talk to her, what's your advice?
|
| |
Ignore her. There's no rocket science. Or tell her that she's not your type.

Pretty sure people just wanted an SP reunion because everyone was certain the mere presence of bandmates would prevent Corgan from releasing anything as bad as The Future Embrace
Not saying they were right or anything but I can see the line of reasoning

I’d kill for a Future Embrace at this point

Bleak

Listening to the album and right after the title track I had to cleanse my pallet with some Billy Idol and then continue on

Son of a bitch I was really hoping this would be a glorious comeback, but totally let down. I actually do like the Colour of love and like one other song. Otherwise this is not the style they should be doing. Damn it Billy I think it’s time to hang it up

Yeah I really wanted this to be good. In the Shiny 1 thread you can see my enthusiasm for it wane in real time as the singles were released

This ain't so bad. Whilst it is nowhere near Adore's standard, I feel like the initial reaction is equally harsh to that album (and dare I say it, unfair). With time, people will consider this to be mid-tier pumpkins.
Or I'm a Smashing Pumpkins apologist who is blinded by an irrational love for them.
