It's better than FWX, Inside Out and the first for sure.
Definitely not in the league of Theories and maybe not quite as good as Darkness. Thing is, some of it is truly excellent, but some of it is a bit 'vanilla' and I stand that at least 2 of the weaker songs could have been cut.
I need to listen more. It's around a low 4 for me right now, which is still a great rating anyway.

Honestly, Theories is bottom 3 Fates for me. It's too homogenous for it's own good, and sitting through the entire album in one sitting can be a real chore at times.

I always thought like FW are homogenous, tbh, but I've never listened to their discography consistently

No way! Lots of variation to be found within their discography. Dig deeper, you'll love it.

I've been trying, bro. Omair is still visiting in my sleep, demanding I listen to Fates Warning.

"I always thought like FW are homogeneous, tbh, but I've never listened to their discography consistently".
But you should dude. Yeah, check "A Pleasant Shade Of Gray" and "Disconnected" first.

I think Inside Out is underrated, I like it more than Parallels which it often gets compared to

I agree with "Inside Out". But I prefer "Parallels".

Guys, emphasis on ''consistently''. I've listened to their first three or so albums, Pleasant Shade..., Parallels, Perfect Symmetry, Theories... but haven't delved into them.

Disconnected remains my favorite post-Parallels FW album. As for Long Day Good Night its starting to click. Songs like The Way Home builds up so well. Plus the gloomy November weather is perfect moodsetter for it.

Disconnected is very good, but A Pleasant Shade is on a whole other level.

Pleasant Shade is fantastic but you really have to listen to it one sitting to fully appreciate it, which is why I don't jam to it as often as other FW records.

Great album overall. Hits all the modern prog boxes without being corny. Didn't even notice the overall length of the album either, which is odd for me.

Really solid album, not in the same league of Theories, but very good nonetheless. Another Inside out fan here 🙂

How ELSE am I supposed to get it through? XD. No pressure Mythhhhhh :D
"Didn't even notice the overall length of the album either"
Honestly even I was surprised that the album doesn't feel it's length. Doesn't feel laboured like a 70 min album normally is. Though I'm not normally listening to it in order anymore

When that main riff kicks in I can't help but headbang like crazy. Dude you need to see them live when they visit Greece. You guys have the best crowds for Fates (prob because of Jim's Greek heritage), plus this album is going to be killer live. I think it'll make the album more enjoyable
Begin Again has got such JUICY guitar work man, both the acoustic and electric. Great vocal lines by Ray as well.

Omair, kardash, we have the best crowd period, with Latin America coming second. And I really want to see Fates live. They toured with Dream Theater in '11, and the ticket was only 30 euros... But I was still a teenager and couldn't attend...
Also, I'm thinking that of course it's their longest album, because it might be their last... It's the longest shadow in their dayscography, leading into night....
